You spend so much of your life in your kitchen. Why not make it a dream kitchen that you’ll love to share for family gatherings and parties with friends?
Remodeling your Duluth home is both exciting and frightening. The exciting comes from the new and the improvement and the elegance. The frightening comes from the unknowns of the cost and the disruption of your life and the thousand and one bewildering choices you have to make and the difficulty knowing what contractor you can trust.
This is a simple guide to help you understand the scary questions and unknowns of renovating kitchens in Duluth, and provide answers to those questions so they aren’t so scary anymore.
How Much Does It Cost to Remodel a Kitchen in Duluth, GA?
Let’s tackle the most frightening question first: How much do kitchen remodeling services cost?
The answer is simple: As much or as little as you want to spend. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for.
A renovation may be as simple as refacing cabinets or as complicated as ripping out everything, removing walls, and starting from a blank canvas. Obviously, the latter will cost considerably more because it will require much more work, materials, time, etc.
Here are some very simplified ballpark cost estimates. These numbers will depend on many factors including the size of your kitchen and the quantity and quality and the styles of materials you choose. The best way to get a true cost for your renovation is to request a free estimate for your job.
- Typical $20,000+
- Midrange $68,000+
- Upscale $138,000+
Don’t let these cost ranges scare you! So many choices exist in all of the above price ranges and our kitchen designer will work with you to customize a kitchen for you that meets both your budget and your design goals.
How Long Does a Kitchen Remodel in Duluth, GA Take?
Like cost, the time needed to complete a renovation will vary greatly. Simple upgrades like flooring upgrades might be completed in one to three days. While a full kitchen makeover could take four to six weeks.
Many clients will opt to have a master bathroom remodel or other renovations done simultaneously, so that they reduce the length of disruption in their homes. Adding additional renovation work won’t necessarily increase the time to complete, so consider tackling bathroom remodeling or other custom construction projects simultaneously.
When we begin your remodel, you will receive access to our client portal where you can view the schedule. This schedule shows you the timeline for when all of the various parts of the project will be done. Our process includes mapping out step-by-step when we will perform the numerous steps of your kitchen renovation, so everything is completed in an orderly and timely manner.
Will I Be Able to Use My Kitchen While the Remodel is Underway?
The complexity and scale of your remodel will determine whether or not it will be usable during the renovation. If we have to gut the kitchen, removing everything to clear the way for new constrction, then obviously it won’t be usable. But if we are performing smaller upgrades, then you will likely have at least partial use of your kitchen during the completion of the work.
It may be necessary to cut the water supply to the sink, refrigerator or dish washer at some point, which means those items will not be unusable for one or more days. It’s also possible that power may be temporarily off in the room. So plan ahead to make sure your refrigerator has power to avoid food spoilage, and that you will have a way to prepare meals or eat out when power and water are off.
We can help you plan for these “outages” in advance to reduce disruption and downtime for your family. For example, we will pre-order materials such as cabinets so they are ready to go in as soon as possible after we remove your old cabinets.
Will You Help Me Design My New Kitchen?
Yes! If you need kitchen designer assistance, we have an in-house designer who will work with you to create a kitchen that has both beauty and functionality, incorporating your ideas along with best-practices so that you are happy with your cooking and dining space for years to come.
Our kitchen designer can also help you make your selections. Selections are the choices you must make for things like countertops, plumbing fixtures, backsplash tile, etc. These selections can be overwhelming, so we’ll help you as much or as little as you need.
Is Financing Available?
Yes! We work with GreenSky financing company to make affording your dream kitchen possible. Contact us for details on applying for this financing. They have several options available including their 12-months-same-as-cash plan to make your dreams become reality. GreenSky works specifically with contractors to meet the needs of their customers when undertaking remodels of all types.
Of course, you can contact your favorite lending company or bank to get their loan availability and rates. If you’ve been in your home for a while, a home equity line of credit (HELOC) may be your best bet to finance your renovations.
How Soon Can You Start?
Once we provide you with a quote and you give us the go-ahead, we will create a project schedule based on our current workload and availability. We will also begin procuring any necessary permits, which may take several days, or longer, depending on the jurisdiction and the nature of your work.
On average, we can begin actual work on most kitchens in two weeks after you give us the go-ahead. This allows us to order your kitchen cabinets and other materials, get permits, etc. By ordering materials before work begins, this reduces the amount of time your kitchen is not usable.
How Much Money do You Need to Start My Renovation?
At the start of your job, depending on the size, duration and other factors, we will request 25 to 50% of the estimated total. This will cover the initial permitting, design, materials, etc. Through the remainder of the job, we’ll send you invoices, usually in the 25 to 33% range. Each job is different, but we will make sure you understand and approve the payments or draws before we begin work.
Before your final invoice, we will invoice for any change orders you previously approved. For example, if you added some lighting fixtures, or upgraded (or downgraded) your lighting, we will invoice or credit you for those items. We want to make sure there are no financial surprises at the end of the job.
At the conclusion of the work, after a final walk-through, after you have approved your beautiful new kitchen, you’ll receive a final invoice for the balance, typically 25 to 33%.
Do You Warranty My New Kitchen?
Absolutely!
Our one-year limited warranty covers both labor and non-manufacturer-warranted materials for one year against defects or workmanship. Your satisfaction is paramount.
Items such as appliances come with a manufacturers warranty and are covered by their respective terms.
